Kenji began his legal career doing defense work at a large downtown firm where he became well versed in the ways of insurance companies by working for them. Personal injury, premises liability (slip/trip and fall), dram shop (over service by bars and taverns), product liability and wrongful death were among the cases he defended for years, along with school and municipal defense work. Kenji learned to defend the cases he now brings for McKelvey Kozuma PC’s clients, by far the best way to learn both the value of these cases and the best ways to unlock that value through negotiation with insurers or trial if negotiation is not successful.
Kenji has also converted his skill as a home remodeler and carpenter into expertise in construction defect litigation. Kenji spent years defending contractors in construction defect (leaky buildings) cases, developing a reputation as a cutting-edge thinker in the evolution of construction defect law in Oregon. Today, Kenji represents clients injured in accidents, both large and small. He also represents homeowners who have trouble with their remodels or new construction. Kenji has the expertise to help achieve a reasonable settlement or work your case up for trial if the insurance company won’t play ball.
When not helping injury and construction defect clients achieve fair results, Kenji can be found fly fishing, spending time with his two kids, or being thrashed by his wife in a yoga class.
